From the Inside Flap
Celebrated Sun Valley restaurateur Cristina Ceccatelli Cook’s third cookbook―Cristina’s of Sun Valley Con Gusto!―bursts with the Tuscan attitude of appreciating the simple, enjoying the beautiful, and living life with passion and joy. Whether you want to prepare an elegant dinner or a simple sandwich, these inspired and approachable recipes will bring Cristina’s signature style into your home and allow you to dish up the tastes that have created her reputation as a buona cuoca (good cook).
Since 1993, Sun Valley locals and visitors alike have come back again and again to taste Cristina’s unforgettable food and enjoy the camaraderie and friendship around her table. The restaurant is a cozy place―busy and loud at times―much like the traditional Tuscan trattorie Cristina grew up with. The house wine is always good and the food has a timeless and comforting quality. Cristina has traveled long and far since she first said “ciao amore” to her mother as she left for America, but her passion for the deceptively simple style of her Italian childhood still exemplifies all that she does.
Illustrated with over 150 beautiful photographs, Cristina’s of Sun Valley Con Gusto! also offers a glimpse of Sun Valley celebrations and Cristina’s flair for presentation that makes them so memorable.
Use the recipes in Cristina’s of Sun Valley Con Gusto! to plan your own special events. Start with an antipasti of Marinated Artichoke Hearts, Prosciutto Cones, and Salmon Cakes, accompanied by refreshing Limoncello Spritzers. Linger over Bavettine all Carretierra. Then finish with Cristina’s famous Candied Orange Peels dipped in Chocolate and Granita al Caffè. You won’t be disappointed. Like Cristina’s loyal customers, you will return to Cristina’s of Sun Valley Con Gusto! again and again.

Well regarded

Even more recipes flow from this acclaimed Sun Valley restauranteur, in her third cookbook, showing that good food need not be fussy or complex. Something must be working!
This is a richly-decorated, well illustrated yet surprisingly modest book. A few lifestyle-type, congratulatory photographs set the scene for this book which is otherwise chock-full of recipes. What a nice selection too. Split between antipasti; salads; soups & stews; panini; pasta; fish, meat & vegetables; dessert and breakfast the recipes just keep on coming. Great photograph, recipe, great photograph, recipe...
Some of the recipes might appear overly-simplistic or possibly not worthy of their own recipe (maybe, at least, unless you try it..) such as a simple dressing, yet some of the "simpler" recipes can also be some of the most engaging, most interesting in the book. In many cases you might think that many of the recipes are familiar, or a theme based on many that feature in most cookbooks, such as a vegetable burger, but the author has managed to put her own twist or interpretation to a classic, traditional item.
The book features a generally fuss-free, clean design and this approach is also visible within the featured recipes, showing that you don't need to add complexity and fluff to a good, basic dish. The ingredients can and should talk for themselves. Great food photography draws you in to the clearly-written, understandable recipes. A few minor niggles that are common to all so many books: the lack of metric or dual measures (it is no good hiding a conversion table at the end of the book), no estimation of preparation and cooking times nor a break out of nutritional information. The latter is less important in a general book but a useful indicator nonetheless.
This is one of those books that is just great for browsing but dangerous if you are trying to stick to a diet as everything just seems so scrumptious, so engaging and so more-some. The price feels a little high but not outrageous when you consider the pedigree and pure breadth of the recipes on offer. It might not be hyperbole to describe this as a bit of an ego-free, feel good cookery book! You surely cannot fail to find some new family favourites and maybe a few new wrinkles on many known recipes too.
So in short, this is a well-regarded, generalish sort of recipe book with a strong bias towards Italian cooking. It will become a well-consulted, dog-eared tome over time!

I've already made a couple recipes and they turned out awesome! I especially loved the pumpkin cranberry muffins, they were delicious.
Cristina is one of a kind and I can't wait to keep trying her recipes!! Next on the list is the waffles with panna cotta and strawberries :)

Great read for lovers of good Italian food
By Sage65
Easy to follow recipes, classically casual Italian style, beautifully photographed. I've had this book for sometime now, and every time I pick it up, I want to rush to the kitchen and start to cook. The photographs by Kirsten Shultz are amazing -- local photographer teamed with local chef. A winning combination!
