The Holy Eucharist has its roots in two ancient Jewish patterns of worship: the synagogue service and the seder meal. The first part of the eucharist is based on one and the second part on the other.
About the Author
Christopher L. Webber, a graduate of Princeton University and the General Theological Seminary in New York, is the author of a number of books ranging from Dear Friends: Letters of St. Paul to Christians in America to The Beowulf Trilogy and American to the Backbone, the biography of fugitive slave and abolitionist, James W.C. Pennington. He has served congregations in New York, Connecticut, and Tokyo, Japan, but recently moved to San Francisco where he is learning about city life after spending 20 years in rural Connecticut.

The Holy eucharist: Rites I & II (User's Guide to the Book of Common Prayer)

This book is very well written and easy to understand. It helps one get a much better understanding of the symbology and history of the Eucharistic Rites and the Book of Common Prayer.
